Lecture: “St Francis and India in the Divine Comedy”
The mysterious world of Dante’s Divine Comedy has carried away the students
of XII High School during a lecture at the Department of Italian Studies. The students had a unique opportunity to be presented to the secrets of the third part of the Divine Comedy – the Paradiso. Professor Marino A. Balducci introduced to the students the figure of St Francis of Assissi, a great Saint of the Church who is believed to have been the Second Christ. The Polish students could also observe and listen to the Italian students who were working on the translations of the original text into English. The participation in the lecture has enriched the high school students in a new literary experience making them ponder over the mysteries of the masterpiece of the Divine Comedy. The dedication and the involvement which Professor Balducci spoke with made the journey even more enthralling.
